Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Locksmith Services in Mountain Home

FAQs

Is there a master key for everything?

Unfortunately no. There is what is known as the construction key which can lock or unlock a door, however once another key successfully operates that door the construction key becomes invalid. The best thing to do is get duplicate keys made and stored in a secure location. Call us if you are interested in a Master Key system.

Why should I use a professional locksmith?

A professional locksmith provides skill, experience, and state of the art equipment. Using an inexperienced person or a coat hanger during a lockout risks damaging your vehicle — repairs can often triple the cost of hiring a professional. Call Buck's Lock & Key to save time and money.

What is a Transponder Key?

A transponder key has a small microchip built in that matches your car's onboard computer. When inserted, the codes match and start the car. To duplicate or replace one, the key must be both cut and programmed. This provides extra security against unauthorized duplication.

Is it necessary to have a spare key?

It is always a good idea to have a spare key in case of a lockout. However, avoid storing it in obvious places like the glove compartment, visor, or center console — these are the first places a car thief would look. Keep your spare in a safe, secured location.

"Buck's Lock and Key saved the day (actually, the night) for us last night! My granddaughter fell fast asleep while her mum was out. When her mum got home, she had locked the door before she went to sleep, and no amount of calling out or pounding on the door woke her up. They live in a second story apartment and were issued one key, and that one key was inside. I zipped around the corner to Bucks, located across from Scotty's Burgers in Mountain Home on Main Street. He dropped everything and got into his car to come and help get into their apartment. However, my granddaughter woke up, so I didn't need Buck's services anymore. I offered to pay Buck for dropping everything to come and help me and for his time for an after hours service call. He refused. That was so kind of him and doesn't happen very often! I was so appreciative! The customer service that he gave was incredible and immediate helping us with our problem after hours.

Also, his business came to my home last fall and re-keyed every single doorknob on my house. They all only use one key now, instead of three different keys🤣. He is very reasonably priced and does excellent work!"
